The pull counter is from my motion capture, Muay Thai 02, take_01, 16.90–18.45 s. From the guard I lean back out of range, the hips dropping about 9 cm and the head going about 20 cm back, with the right fist wound back. Then I come forward into a rear straight to the head at chin height, and back to the guard. Neither foot steps. I checked the motion on the fighter’s body and approved it on 24 October.
Its teacher was cloned from the newest student at the time, distill1-282.5M, a newer and better model than the guard14 and guard18 the earlier teachers came from (work log). Four vast.ai machines in a row never loaded, so it went to RunPod, and trained to its two-hour cap. It needed one run. The kept snapshot, pull1-209.7M, lands 8 of 8 in the air (4.6 cm, 4.7 m/s) and 8 of 8 at the bag. In the side view at quarter speed the trunk tilts back with the right fist wound back, then drives forward into the straight: the lean is there, not a plain cross.
Bringing it back into the fighter was the hard part. In distill6 the student learnt it at the bag (6 of 6) but not in the air (1–2 of 6, about 10 cm short), and none of distill6’s snapshots beat distill4 overall, so distill6 wasn’t kept (distillation). As I wrote in the shadow clones post, the experience doesn’t arrive whole. The two distillations since, distill7 and distill8, left the pull counter out. For now it lives in its clone. Next is a distillation that gives it more presses and a stronger pull towards its teacher.

Shared training
Runs that trained it together with other techniques: a base model, a retrain onto a new stance, a distillation into the student. Their whole cost is counted once, in the shared figure above, not split.
How the models descend
Its own runs, each with an arrow from the run it started from; faded boxes are models from elsewhere it started from or learnt from. Tap a run for its details. The whole history is on the lineage page.
