The high kicks
The right and left high roundhouses to the head.
Where it stands
| Technique | Teacher kept | In the student | Own runs |
|---|---|---|---|
| right high kick | none yet | not yet | 1 |
| left high kick | none yet | not yet | 1 |
The high kicks come from later in the same take as the low and mid kicks, Muay Thai 03, take_01. The right one (31.70–33.48 s) starts with a small step of the left foot; the left one (38.10–40.12 s) is a switch. The target is the opponent’s head, 1.56 m up. My captured shin peaks lower (1.42 m on the right, 1.47 m on the left), so in the reference the hips shift up to 16 cm to reach it while the standing foot stays planted. I asked for the other glove up by the ear as the kick lands, and for the aim to go down 15 cm and 10 cm either side, never above the head.
highkickR1 and highkickL1 trained in parallel on 27 October, cloned from the mid-kick teachers, for 2.5 hours each (work log). Their last checkpoints came down empty, so the last snapshots, 209.7 M and 199.9 M, were gated instead. The right one hits 5 of 6 at the head in the air and 6 of 6 15 cm below it, but only 2–3 of 6 at the sides, and at the bag 2 of 6 at the head and 6 of 6 on the low row. Its hips swing round as far as 127–139° in the air. The left one hits 0 of 6 at the head in the air and 4 of 6 15 cm below, but 5 of 6 at the bag at most aims; one of its six seeds falls in every row.
Neither is kept yet. The videos went to me, and my review is pending.
What I think, as a coach
On the aim: “no need to kick above that”. The head is the target, and the kick only has to reach it, its sides and below it.
Every attempt
